Raku

We fire our raku in our hand-built raku kiln. Bisque pieces placed in the kiln until it reaches an approximately 1830° F. Some pieces are removed and placed in a container of combustible material. A lid is placed on the container in order to remove the oxygen. This allows the glazes to mature. Other pieces are removed from the kiln and decorated with horsehair.

These pieces are not food safe and will not hold water as they are not vitrified. They can be used for live flower vases, but, would require something under them as water will seep through. They are perfect as decorative pieces or to display artificial flora.

Every item displayed is the exact piece that will be shipped to you.
