We created this peacock matte and black metallic raku vase in a kiln we built. Western style Raku is a firing method in ceramics. The work is brought to temperature in a relatively short amount of time. It is then placed in a container, with combustibles, that has a lid. The oxygen in the container is consumed when the lid is put on. What results is a unique piece as there are a lot of variables that can contribute to the glazes final appearance.
The piece pictured is the exact piece that will be shipped.
